Preparations are underway for a large-scale wedding ceremony involving nine children of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, scheduled to take place next month.

The invitation for the event, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, was obtained by our correspondent on Saturday.

According to the invitation card bearing the minister’s photograph, the multiple wedding ceremonies will be conducted at the Central Mosque in Abuja at 1:30 pm on February 6, 2026.

The children getting married are: Ibrahim, Suraj, Safiya, Maryam, Aisha, Fahad, Muh’d, Nana Firdausi, and Farida.

Yusuf Idris, spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, confirmed that the ceremony will involve five sons and four daughters of the minister.

“By the grace of God, the ceremony will be conducted at the Abuja Central Mosque on February 6. I also want to say that the minister’s children who are getting married are five sons and four daughters,” Idris stated.

He added, “I am among the committee members for this great occasion, and as I speak to you now, arrangements have reached an advanced stage to ensure a smooth ceremony in Abuja next month.”

Matawalle, who previously served as governor of Zamfara State, is married to four wives — Aisha, Balkisu, Fatima and Dadiya.

Details of the event emerged after a general invitation was circulated by Dan Jafaru Aleengoo Turakee, announcing the date and venue of the multiple weddings. Further wedding cards later disclosed the names of several of the couples involved.

Among those set to marry is former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, who will wed Nana Bello Matawalle.

Ibrahim Sahabi Liman is to marry Farida Bello Matawalle, while Safiya Bello Matawalle will be joined in matrimony to Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani.

Another daughter of the minister, Aisha Bello Matawalle, is also scheduled to marry Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki.

The joint wedding ceremony is expected to attract prominent personalities and well-wishers from across Nigeria, given the minister’s political standing and his previous role as Zamfara State governor.

The mass wedding reflects cultural and religious practices in parts of northern Nigeria where joint ceremonies for multiple family members are occasionally organized to mark significant family occasions.
