Prominent human rights advocate and former National Human Rights Commission Chairman, Professor Chidi Odinkalu (CGoF), has sharply criticized the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court (FHC), Honourable Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, for alleged complicity in the biased allocation of politically sensitive cases.

In a pointed X post earlier today, Odinkalu stated:

“It has been long in coming, but at last, it looks like some politicians have now realized that the skewed assignment of cases involving the politics of @GovWike is a very political thing that needs to be dealt with politically. The CJ of @FederalHigh is manifestly complicit.”

His remarks directly reference a recent petition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Justice Tsoho, dated November 19, 2025, which decries the routine funneling of PDP-related matters many tied to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s factional feuds to just three Abuja Division judges: Justices James Omotosho, Peter Odo Lifu, and Abdulmalik.

Labeling the Chief Judge “manifestly complicit,” Odinkalu frames the issue as inherently political, urging a political resolution to restore judicial neutrality amid Nigeria’s brewing election tensions.

The FHC has yet to respond to the petition or Odinkalu’s critique.
