Minister of State for Education, Chukwemeka Nwajiuba, says the Federal Government is working with the armed forces and other security agencies to make schools safe for students.

Nwajiuba disclosed this on Friday while monitoring the ongoing National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) 2021 in school examination taking place at the Government Technical College, Ikeja, Lagos.

He said that the Federal Government is in charge of every part of the country and “we are ensuring maximum security in every part of the country as it is our responsibility and we are committed to doing so.”

Nwajiuba noted that security is an environmental issue, adding that there is no safe school outside a safe environment. “The idea of safe school is to make our schools safe. We are encouraging perimeter fencing and ensuring that those who come in and go out in our schools are authorized to do so.”

He said the NATBEB examination will be physical for now. “We are moving gradually to online. The challenge is that the installation of the orbit is not uniform across the country. We do not have the platform that is available in all centres.

In her words, the Registrar, NABTEB, Professor Mercy Isiugo –Abanihe, said that there is a great advantage for candidates who have taken NABTEB examination or training in technical colleges because they have both the technical traits and other general education and trade related components.
