The Federal Government has named the railway complex located at Idu in Abuja after the Deputy Secretary of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed.

Mohammed is the fifth Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.

She was Minister of Environment before her current position in the UN.

The announcement is contained in a statement in Abuja by the Director of Press of the Ministry of Transportation, Eric Ojiekwe.

It reads: “The Federal Government of Nigeria, has named the Idu railway complex, including Idu railway station and the light train station of the Federal Capital Territory and all the facilities after the Deputy Secretary of the United Nation, Amina Mohammed.

“It has also gained the concurrence of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Muhammed Bello.”

The Federal Government last year named some rail stations and facilities after some prominent Nigerians.

Some of the beneficiaries are: Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Ladoke Akintola, Mobolaji Thompson, Obafemi Awolowo, Olushola Saraki and Anthony Enahoro.
