The Federal Government has filed a 10-count criminal charge against three men over the abduction of pupils and teachers from a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The defendants, Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa and Shamsu Adamu Sani, were charged before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday with offences bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement and illegal mining.

Umar is also known as Abu Khalifa or Abu Khalid, while Musa is also identified as Yunusa bin Musa and Sani as Abu Itisar. The three defendants were said to be from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to the charge, the defendants allegedly conspired with Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to kidnap the schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State.

The prosecution alleged that the conspiracy constituted an offence under Section 26(1) of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

The defendants were also accused of aiding the abduction and concealing information concerning the identities and activities of the alleged masterminds despite allegedly being aware of the plot.

The Federal Government further alleged that the defendants were involved in other offences, including incitement and unlawful mining activities.

The charges remain allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
