*Victims rescued in their pool of blood

An 80-year old woman, self-acclaimed prophetess and her accomplice have been arrested for allegedly torturing three minors at the Federal Housing Estates 3-3 of Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Our correspondent gathered that the victims were subjected to physical and emotional torture after being starved for hours.

“The women also inflicted the children with several wounds on their body and left them unconscious,” a source said.

Confirming the arrest, Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, said the children were rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, has ordered for a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident after which suspects would be brought to justice.

He said, “On 19/2/2021 at about 5:50pm, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station, Nkwelle Ezunaka, arrested two suspects, Rejoice Raymond (39) of Akunwanta Mbamalu Street, Federal Housing Estates 3-3 Area, Anambra State and Mrs. Chidi Felicia Nwafor (80) of same address.

“Suspects allegedly confined three children (2 boys and a girl) inside different rooms at NO.13 Akunwanta Mbamalu Street, Federal Housing Estates 3-3 Nkwelle Ezunaka and subjected them into physical and emotional torture without feeding and inflicted several wounds on their body leaving them unconscious.

“Scene was visited by the DPO 3-3 CSP Abdu Bawa where the gory sights of badly battered victims, one with a broken arm were found in the pool of their blood and whose parents were neither seen nor known.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed some fetish substances, blood stained canes, concoctions and other incriminating items were all recovered inside the rooms and registered as exhibits.”
