The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) said that it has suspended all developmental projects as well as further issuance of building plan approval for Lugbe District.

Director of development control department, Tpl Mukhtar Galadima, who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, explained that the suspension became necessary due to the ongoing harmonisation of developments in line with the Abuja Master Plan within the district.

Galadima decried the current state of illegal developments in Lugbe district, noting that there were myriad of contraventions, including arbitrary change of land use and among others, which he stated must be corrected.

A statement signed by the director and made available to newsmen, also urged the public to be guided and ensure compliance in order to avoid sanctions, even as he advised developers to stop illegal conversion of approved buildings to other uses especially from residential into commercial, just as he ordered defaulters to immediately revert such abuses or face demolition.

Also speaking, the director of planning in the department, Hajiya Zalihau Ahmed, warned developers in the area to stop work because the federal government had already designated Lugbe district as a planning area.
