The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, has announced that the High Court of the FCT will commence its 2025 Annual Court Vacation on Monday, July 20, 2025, and will resume for the new legal year on Monday, September 14, 2025.

In a circular dated June 17, 2025, and addressed to all Hon. Judges of the FCT High Court, the Chief Judge invoked Order 48 Rule 4(e) of the FCT High Court Rules, 2025, which empowers him to determine the dates for the court’s annual vacation.

“I hereby declare that the Court will proceed on Annual Vacation beginning from Monday, July 20th to Friday, September 11, 2025,” Justice Baba Yusuf stated. “The Court will resume for the New Legal Year on Monday, September 14, 2025.”

The Chief Judge extended his best wishes to his colleagues for “a very restful and most rewarding vacation.”

The annual court vacation provides a period for judges to rest, reflect, and prepare for the rigors of the new legal year, while a few vacation judges will be assigned to handle urgent matters as required.
