A legal practitioner, Nnaebuka Nwaeze, has emphasised the need for young lawyers to embrace innovation and technology in order to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.

In a goodwill message to participants at the 2026 Young Lawyers’ Summit of the Port Harcourt Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nwaeze described the theme, “Beyond Borders: Empowering the Next Generation in an Age of Disruption and Innovation,” as timely and reflective of the demands of modern legal practice.

He noted that today’s lawyer must go beyond the traditional application of statutes and legal principles, stressing the importance of understanding and mastering information technology in delivering efficient legal services.

According to him, young lawyers must be equipped to provide legal solutions at the speed of technological advancement if the profession is to maintain its relevance in society.

Nwaeze commended the Young Lawyers’ Forum of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch for choosing a forward-looking theme and expressed optimism that the summit would foster meaningful discussions and professional growth.

He further called for the transformation of the NBA Secretariat into a technology-driven service centre capable of delivering real-time support and resources to lawyers, particularly younger practitioners.

He said such reforms are necessary to build a modern, efficient, and future-ready legal profession.
