The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court Abuja, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, has initiated the process to appoint 12 additional judges.

In a January 18th notice, Justice Yusuf disclosed approval from the Chief Justice of Nigeria and National Judicial Council chairman to begin considering candidates to join the FCT High Court bench.

In a notification letter addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice as well as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Justice Yusuf announced the commencement of the selection exercise for judges from 12 states – Bauchi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Imo, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Taraba and Zamfara.

According to the guideline, interested candidates are expected to submit their applications along with detailed resumes to the Chief Judge’s office not later than February 19, 2024 for review and consideration.

Justice Yusuf highlighted that the move aims to expand and enhance the High Court’s capacity to dispense timely justice to FCT residents.
