*Calls for Investigation into Social Media Rumors

Former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has vehemently denied the allegations circulating on social media that he was involved in drafting a judgement for the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) Judges. He labeled these claims as baseless and harmful to the judiciary.

Expressing his disappointment over the spread of such false information, Fashola called on security agencies to take swift action against those responsible for spreading these unfounded rumors. He expressed concern that this could be a deliberate attempt to undermine the judiciary and manipulate their decision-making process.

Fashola clarified that he was not in Abuja at the time of the alleged preparation of the judgement, rendering the claims utterly untrue.

To counter these malicious tweets and online stories, Fashola vowed to take legal action by reporting them to Twitter’s management and the National Communications Commission (NCC).

Emphasizing the seriousness of the matter, Fashola urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, as it directly impacts the independence of the judiciary. He suspects that certain individuals may be attempting to tarnish the judiciary’s reputation for their own personal gain, and he advocates for legal consequences to befall those responsible.

In a press release signed by Fashola’s spokesperson, Hakeem Bello, the public was urged to disregard these baseless claims and encouraged to report any individuals spreading such false information to the relevant security agencies.
