A 23-year-old man, Abidemi Emmanuel, accused of raping popular Lagos content creator Fems Thrift and her friend, has been remanded in a correctional facility pending the continuation of his trial.

Emmanuel was arraigned on Tuesday before a magistrate’s court in Lagos State, and the case has been adjourned to March 19 for further hearing.

Confirming the development to newsmen on Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspect was remanded after his arraignment and that investigations were ongoing.

“The suspect has been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility. The case has been adjourned till March 19, 2026. Investigation is still ongoing,” she said.

TheNigeriaLawyer had earlier reported that Emmanuel allegedly lured Fems Thrift and her friend with a fake modelling job at Ajao Estate on February 8, 2026, and sexually assaulted them.

In a viral video, the content creator narrated that Emmanuel contacted her on Instagram, claiming to have relocated from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria. He allegedly offered her N140,000 for the modelling gig and asked her to promote the brand using her social media influence.

Fems said she arrived at the apartment around 11 a.m. with her friend for safety, only to find it empty. She alleged that Emmanuel brandished a knife, tied their hands with socks, and assaulted them multiple times. She also claimed he seized their phones, transferred intimate photos and videos to himself via AirDrop, and threatened to release the materials online if they spoke out.

Following intense public outcry on social media, the police arrested Emmanuel on February 14, 2026.

The case is being handled by the Command’s Gender Unit.
