The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has officially invited Lagos-based businessman Olasijibomi Ogundele, popularly known as Sujimoto, for questioning over allegations of “advance fee fraud and criminal misappropriation.”
The invitation, conveyed in a letter dated October 16, 2025, was signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Yahaya Gambo of the Monitoring and Mentoring Unit for the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, at the Police Headquarters in Abuja. The letter noted that Ogundele failed to honour a previous invitation scheduled for September 29, 2025, and directed him to appear on October 20, 2025, warning that ignoring the summons could constitute “deliberate obstruction of investigation and contempt for constituted authority” under the Police Act, 2020, and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
The summons follows a petition filed by lawyer Ayokunle Erin on behalf of client Olatokunbo Cole. According to the petition dated August 18, 2025, Cole was approached in 2020 by Ogundele to purchase a three-bedroom flat at the estate “Leonardo by Sujimoto Luxury Apartments,” advertised with promises of high resale value.
Cole reportedly paid 90 percent of the $594,474 purchase price, amounting to $556,000, on April 24, 2022. However, when construction delays persisted and Cole sought updates, Ogundele allegedly offered an alternative project, “The Lucrezia by Sujimoto,” asking for an additional $2 million, rather than addressing the unfinished Leonardo project.
The petition alleges that Ogundele and Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited misrepresented themselves as estate developers, provided false documents, and obtained funds under the guise of a purported construction project, constituting fraud.
This is not Ogundele’s first brush with law enforcement. In September, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared him wanted over alleged diversion of funds and money laundering. Ogundele denied wrongdoing in a social media video, claiming the matter arose from a project between his company and the Enugu State government.
The Enugu government, however, accused Ogundele of defrauding the state of N5.7 billion, alleging he disappeared after receiving funds for the construction of 22 smart green schools.
