The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association(ECBNA) had issued the procedures to be complied with, in the event of irregularities noticed in the just-released provisional list of voters.

It would be recalled that the ECNBA has just released the “INTERIM/PROVISIONAL VOTERS REGISTER” which contains the names of the qualified voters for the forthcoming NBA National Elections.

Meanwhile and in the light of the released provisional register, the Committee noted that: “Members are hereby advised and required to confirm their names and details on the Published Interim/Provisional Voters List and send in their corrections to their Branch Chairmen and ensure that the corrections are forwarded to the Secretary of the ECNBA not later than the 6th day of June 2020 for compilation in the Final Voters Register.”

Furthermore, it states :

“TAKE NOTICE THAT any Branch which does not supply the required corrections within the time stipulated…would not be accommodated after the publication of the Final Voters Register. “

In light of the above, the procedures for complaints are:

1. All submissions from Branches must be in EXCEL Format indicating:

a. the full name (surname first),

b. year of Call,

c. phone number,

d. email address,

e. the complaint of the individual and

f. the required correction,

g. NB: complaints of omission of names must be accompanied by proof of payment of Bar Practice Fees and Branch Dues.

2. All complaints are to be forwarded to respective Branch Chairmen for onward transmission to the below mails:

ecnba2020@gmail.com and ecnba2020@nigerianbar.ng

3. The deadline for submission of corrections/complaints by Branches to ECNBA is 6th June, 2020.

Besides, it is enjoined that all complaints from members must get to the Branch Chairmen, most appropriately, two days, before the deadline for compilation and subsequent transmission to ECNBA on 6th June, 2020.

Furthermore, the Secretary to the Committee, Cordelia Eke Esq., has strongly enjoined that there should be full compliance with the laid down procedures, according to her:

“…A lot of Branches failed to send proof of payment of Branch dues, or they sent their Branch lists in picture formats and failed to rectify same when contacted. Some sent documents requiring passcode without sending the code or granting access. We have adviced that all complaints be sent through your Branch leadership to the Committee. It is up to members to see to it that their Branch Chairmen do the needful.”
