A candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nnaebuka Onyebuchi Nwaeze, has highlighted his nearly two decades of legal practice, institutional governance experience and active service within the Bar as part of the credentials he hopes to bring to the national secretariat of the association.

Nwaeze, a seasoned legal practitioner, has built a career spanning litigation, bar leadership, institutional administration and policy engagement. He was also actively involved in the Secretariat of the National Confab, where he participated in drafting reports and recommendations.

He is the Principal of Touchstone & Lightheight Legal Practitioners, a firm he founded after rising through the ranks to become Deputy Head of Chambers at Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN & Associates.

Through his firm, Nwaeze leads a dynamic legal practice focused on practical and results-driven legal solutions.

An alumnus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he obtained his LL.B with Second Class Upper Division, Nwaeze also earned the same grade from the Nigerian Law School.

Over the years, he has developed a reputation for excellence, precision and a strong understanding of Nigeria’s legal and regulatory environment.

His commitment to the growth of the legal profession is reflected in his service within the Nigerian Bar Association.

He currently serves as Chairman of the NBA Garki Branch Public Interest Litigation Committee.

He has also served as Secretary and Financial Secretary of the NBA Abuja Branch, member of the NBA National Executive Committee and NBA representative to the General Council of the Bar.

As a candidate for NBA General Secretary, Nwaeze is presenting himself as a lawyer with the experience, institutional knowledge and administrative capacity required to contribute meaningfully to the management and reform of the association’s secretariat.

His years of active engagement in bar governance, policy development and reform have positioned him as one of the voices in ongoing conversations about the future of the legal profession in Nigeria.

Supporters say his background in litigation, branch administration, national bar service and institutional policy work gives him a broad perspective on the needs of lawyers and the reforms required to strengthen the NBA.
