Nyame, who is being prosecuted by the EFCC on charges of money laundering and embezzlement to the tune of N1.6 Billion, saw his no-case submission before the FCT High Court kicked out by presideing judge Justice Adebukola Banjoko on Tuesday, February 14. Justice Banjoko ruled that Nyame had case to answer with respect to the 41 charges of criminal misappropriation of the state’s N1.64bn filed against him by the anti-corruption agency. After dismissing the ex-governor’s no-case submission in a ruling on Tuesday, Justice Banjoko, ordered the former governor to open his defence. The presiding judge held that contrary to Nyame’s claim, the prosecution had with its witnesses and a number of documentary evidence tendered, made out a case linking him to the alleged offence. She ruled that a prima facie case had been made out against Dariye warranting him to open his defence. March 8, 2017 is now fixed for Nyame to open his defence. Meanwhile, EFCC’s acting chairman Ibrahim Magu is presently at loggerheads with governors of the 36 states of the federation over his investigation into the Nigeria Governors’ Forum handling of Paris Club refunds states got from the federal government.]]>
