Candidate for National Welfare Secretary of NBA, Ikechukwu Maximus Ugwuoke has sent a congratulatory message to the Enugu Branch of the NBA on the occasion of it’s annual general meeting held yesterday 24th June 2022 describing the branch as second to none.

In his words, “The Annual General Meeting of the branch which featured the unveiling of Bar Journal and Handover was a huge success. The event which garnered the heavy weights in the bar across the country namely, the branch chairmen of the 5 branches of NBA in the state, the Governor and some excos of Eastern Bar Forum, Seasoned Senior Advocates of Nigeria and the indefatigable President of the Nigerian Bar Association Olumide Akpata amongst others, was unprecedented.

It reflects the all inclusive leadership style and capacity of the immediate past administration of the branch bar led by Jude Ezegwui whose achievements in the branch is unequalled. The apogee of the event was the swearing-in of the new excos of the branch in the persons of CNN Nwagbara as the chairman, Vice Chairman-Tina Onah, Treasurer -Chinwe Ndubuisi, Welfare Secretary -Ibekwe Jovita, Assistant Secretary -Ukamaka Ofoma, Publicity Secretary- Joe Best Onyiabor, Social Secretary-Chielozonam Onyianta, Finacial Secretary- Joy Nnani and Provost- Okechukwu Udechukwu.

The new crop of excos have a great task ahead to beat the unbeatable legacies of the immediate past excos. I am confident they are equal to the task as they are rare breed of bar men whose competences and dexterities are undoubtable.

I am indeed privileged to have come from this branch of the bar that has the finest bar men as members. The branch is indeed second to none as expressed in her motto- secundus nullus .

It is a great privilege for me to have been an ambassador of the branch and indeed that of the entire Eastern zone of the NBA as the only candidate resident and practicing within the zone who was cleared and qualified to vie for the office of National Welfare Secretary of the NBA in the NBA national election scheduled to hold on 16th July 2022.

The support I have enjoyed from the immediate past excos, the new excos, the entire branches in bar and bar men from the zone and beyond has been so encouraging and overwhelming. And I will never take this for granted. It is my earnest prayer that we shall work together to see that we live up to the motto of the branch by ensuring that I emerge second to none for the office of National Welfare Sectretary of the NBA in the said election scheduled to hold on July 16th. Long Live Enugu Bar! Long Live the NBA!
