Human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani, SAN, is set to host delegates attending the 2026 Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) to a special Variety Night and Dinner in Umuahia, Abia State.

The event, themed “An Evening of Entertainment, Fellowship and Impact,” will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

The dinner forms part of the social and networking activities lined up for the five-day NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference, scheduled to hold from November 9 to 13, 2026, under the theme “In Public Interest: Advancing Justice, Democracy and Development.”

The conference, which is built around the values of People, Justice, Democracy and Development, will bring together legal practitioners, human rights advocates and other stakeholders to examine issues relating to justice, democratic governance and public interest advocacy.

As part of activities designed to complement the formal conference sessions, Ubani will host delegates to an evening dedicated to entertainment, fellowship, cultural appreciation and professional interaction.

According to the organisers, the Variety Night and Dinner is intended to provide participants with an opportunity to interact in a relaxed atmosphere, strengthen professional relationships and celebrate the cultural connections that unite members of the legal profession.

The organisers adopted the message, “Culture Connects Us for a Brighter Tomorrow,” to highlight the importance of cultural appreciation, unity and cooperation among delegates.

The event is also being promoted with the expression “Good Food, Great Talent, Stronger Together,” reflecting its focus on hospitality, entertainment and fellowship.

Ubani, a former Chairman of NBA-SPIDEL and former Second Vice-President of the Nigerian Bar Association, will serve as host of the evening.

The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for delegates to engage beyond the formal discussions, technical sessions and professional activities of the annual conference.

It will also create an avenue for participants from different professional backgrounds and locations to build relationships and strengthen cooperation around shared interests in justice, human rights and national development.

The inclusion of the Variety Night and Dinner in the conference programme reflects the organisers’ intention to combine professional engagement with activities that promote interaction, fellowship and stronger relationships among participants.

The 2026 NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference will feature discussions and activities centred on the role of law and public interest advocacy in advancing justice, strengthening democratic institutions and promoting development.

The Variety Night and Dinner, scheduled for the evening of November 10, will provide a social dimension to these activities, with Ubani hosting delegates for two hours of entertainment and fellowship.

Delegates and interested participants can register for the annual conference through the official registration portal at https://app.nbaspidel.ng/en/public/events/nba-spidel-2026-annual-conference.
