Engineer Nelson Ekperi, PhD., has called on the Inspector-General of Police to direct officers of zone 16, Bayelsa State, to desist from harassing him.

This is contained in a letter made available to TheNigeriaLawyer emanating from the law firm of Ike Ake & Associates addressed to the IGP on behalf of the Engineer and also a statement titled: “THE CONSTANT VIOLATION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF CHIEF ENGR. NELSON EKPERI, Ph.D. BY OFFICERS ATTACHED TO ZONE 16, BAYELSA STATE, A PASSIONATE APPEAL TO IGP TO INTERVENE.”

According to the engineer, the matter is purely a chieftaincy matter and are pending in court but yet the police has been harassing him

Read the details below:

As if the EndSar protest did not change anything, Chief Engr. Nelson Ekperi PH.D. the Onueze in Okwuzi community in Egbema, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, has continued to suffer constant harassment from some officers attached to zone 16, Bayelsa State for a purely civil matter that borders on chieftaincy but has been maliciously converted to criminal matters to suit the wish of one Victor Ofaka and ASP Stella Amadi.

Our reporters called from Chief, Engr. Nelson Ekperi, Ph.D., That the embarrassing and unprofessional conduct of officers of Nig Police attached to the office of Assistant Inspector General of Police, zone 16, Bayelsa State, led by one ASP Stella Amadi, has left Okwuzi community in serious crisis as they no longer sleep with their eyes close. The Onueze has been inundated with different invitations from the said zone for offences that are found in the figment of the imagination of those behind the crisis in the community with the help of the zone.

The said officer with one Mr. Victor Ofaka according to the chief, has sworn that the community and the Onueze will know no peace notwithstanding the fact that the subject matters are all pending in court and the IGP is seised with the facts of the case via a petition by Chief, Engr. Nelson Ekperi, Ph.D., Solicitor.

Some of the matters pending in court against the said Mr Victor Ofaka are:

OMHC/16/CS/2020 VICTOR OFAKA ORS v EZE NWAUGBOR & ORS.

OMHC/17/CS/2020. EZE CHUKWUMA S G.D. NNWONOKA (JP) v VICTOR OFAKA & ORS.

OMHC/64/CS/2020 MR VICTOR OFAKA & ORS v IGP.

OMHC/82/CS/2020 CHIEF NELSON EKPERI Ph.D. v IGP, VICTOR OFAKA & ORS.

These cases notwithstanding, the men of Zone 16 have continued to harass the Regent with police invitation at the instance of the said Victor Ofaka who himself is a party to all the suits. The last of the invitation is that he should appear on 3/01/2020 when the matters have been adjourned to 18/1/2021 for hearing.

The Onueze appeals to the IGP to call the officers attached to zone 16, Bayelsa State, to order.

At this time when the Police is doing everything to write the wrongs, the officers attached to the Ast Inspt Gen of Police, led by Stella, have vowed to continue to give the Nig police a bad name.

It is an urgent appeal to your exalted office to call Stella to order before she creates serious crisis in Okwuzi community in this yuletide season thru the help of Mr Victor Ofaka.
