Security operatives have arrested a tailor responsible for producing the Russian flags seen at various protest grounds.

Recall that demonstrators especially in the North have been displaying Russian flags while marching through major Nigerian cities.

One of the people behind the spread of the Russian flag in Kano, North West Nigeria, has been arrested.

However, the police on Monday, August 5, cracked down on a tailor in Kano, including some of the youths using the flag to protest.

The tailor, simply identified as Ahmed, was said to have some Russian flags at the time of his arrest.

He has since been taken into custody for interrogation.

Russia, an Eastern power which is currently having a cold war with the West, Nigeria’s colonial power, has been fingered in the coup d’etats in West African countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, among others.

In his nationwide broadcast on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu has asked protesters not to allow enemies of democracy use them to overthrow his government.

Although the President didn’t make any reference to Russia in the broadcast, his warning about “enemies of democracy” has sparked some speculation on social media platforms.
