The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has confirmed the appointment of Mr Emmanuel Odo as the substantive Clerk of the Senate and approved the appointment of Mr Ibrahim Sidi as Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives.

The Commission also approved a number of senior officer appointments and redeployments into other consolidated positions across the National Assembly bureaucracy.

In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja, the Director of Public Affairs in the Office of the Executive Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Anyigor, said Mr Odo was earlier appointed Acting Clerk of the Senate on September 16, 2025, pending confirmation.

He added that the confirmation now makes Mr Odo the substantive administrative head of the Senate bureaucracy.

According to the statement, Mr Ibrahim Sidi, who was until his appointment a Director of Administration in the National Assembly, will assume office as Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives with effect from February 9, 2026. He will replace Dr Yahaya Danzariya, who is scheduled to retire from the National Assembly Service on February 8, 2026.

The Commission also approved the appointment of several officers as Acting Secretaries to key directorates.

Those appointed include Mrs Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi as Acting Secretary, Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations; Mrs Asien Fatima Nana as Acting Secretary, Zonal Liaison Offices; Engr. Bashir Layya as Acting Secretary, Estate and Works, with effect from February 3, 2026; Mr Siyaka Wahab Sadiq as Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives; and Mr Dauda Bulama Bukar as Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives.

In addition, NASC approved the redeployment of some senior officers to new positions. Mrs Mofoluwake Ogunbayo was moved from the Directorate of Special Duties and Parliamentary Security to serve as Secretary, Procurement and Supplies, while Mr Kehinde Amos was redeployed from Deputy Clerk, Human Resources (Legislative) to Deputy Clerk, Senate (Legislative).

Similarly, Mr Atiku Ibrahim was redeployed from Procurement and Supplies to the position of Secretary, Finance and Accounts; Mrs Vivien Njemanze moved from Deputy Clerk, Human Resources (Administration) to Deputy Clerk, Senate (Administration); and Mr Andrew Nwoba was transferred from Zonal Liaison Offices to serve as Secretary, Special Duties and Parliamentary Security.

The Commission stated that, apart from the appointments of Mr Ibrahim Sidi and Engr. Bashir Layya, which takes effect on their respective dates, all other appointments and redeployments take immediate effect.
