The lawmaker representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency of Sokoto in the House of Representatives, Abdulsamad Dasuki, on Thursday said he will present 16 witnesses to prove his petition at the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Sokoto.

Dasuki of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bala Kokani, at the general elections.

At the sitting of the tribunal, Dasuki’s counsel, Dr Garba Usman-Tetengi (SAN), represented by Mr Paul Kassim disclosed that he would call 16 witnesses.

Kokani’s counsel, Mr Solomon Alimasunya, as well as counsel for APC, Mr Nuhu Adamu, said they had a witness each.

Mr Tolani Oladipo, counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said he would present two defence witnesses.

The counsels adopted their respective correspondence processes to enable commencement of the hearing.

Meanwhile, the Tribunal Chairman, Justice Yusuf Ubale, had granted the prayer of additional witness made by the petitioner, Dasuki and amendments in INEC submissions.

The case was adjourned to May 23 for hearing.
