The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) have launched investigations into Muhyi Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

Rimingado is being probed for his actions during the tenure of former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Notably, Rimingado is also heading an investigation into Ganduje, who is now the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, regarding an alleged corruption scandal featured in a viral video. The video purportedly shows the ex-governor receiving kickbacks in dollars from a contractor. Rimingado has vowed to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that Ganduje faces consequences if found guilty.

Recently, the EFCC sent a letter to Rimingado requesting the appearance of the PCACC’s Director of Finance and Accounts for an interview at its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja on August 29. The letter also sought financial records and details of forfeited properties.

Additionally, a corresponding letter from the CCB solicited documents related to Rimingado’s stewardship, including contractual undertakings, records of recoveries and forfeitures, financial allocations, and the status of commission buildings across the state’s local governments.

Rimingado faced allegations of abuse of office in 2022, leading to his removal by the former Kano State governor. However, his reinstatement as PCACC chair was approved by the current governor, Abba Yusuf, on June 21, 2023, in compliance with a court order that was previously disregarded by Ganduje.

Both the EFCC and CCB spokespersons, Wilson Uwujaren and Veronica Kato, respectively, remained unavailable for comment despite attempts to contact them.
