The Take It Back Movement, through their solicitors, has formally notified the Inspector-General of Police of their intention to hold public meetings, rallies, and processions across Nigeria from August 1 to 10, 2024.

The events will take place at Eagle’s Square in Abuja and other public spaces in the capital cities of all 36 states and the headquarters of the 774 local government councils.

In a letter addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, the movement cited sections 39 and 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, and section 83 of the Police Act, 2020, which outlines the responsibility of the Police Force in maintaining public safety and order during such events.

The letter also requested police coverage for the meetings, rallies, and processions, as provided for under section 83(4) of the Police Act, 2020. The movement expressed their willingness to collaborate with the police officers assigned to cover the events to harmonize plans and strategies.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, signed the letter on behalf of the Take It Back Movement, thanking the Inspector-General of Police for their consideration and support. The events are expected to commence at 8am each day and may extend to public highways and other locations of public access.
