The Eastern Bar Forum has joined in the condemnation of the invasion of the Abuja residence of His Excellency Dave Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State.
The Abuja residence of the Governor was invaded by persons in mufti suspected to be from one of the Country’s Security Agencies. Investigations revealed that the invasion which was carried out at about 6.30 am on Monday, 3rd September 2019 was not backed by any order or warrant from any court of law in the country.
The Governor of the EBF S. Long Williams Esq stated that the EBF has waited with bated breath for a response from the authorities on the said invasion but non has come forth till date.
The EBF condemns the invasion in its entirety and wondered how an why the residence of a sitting Governor in the country could be invaded and violated without any whimper or word from the authorities on the issue.
They say silence is golden but the silence of the authorities on this issue is not golden but toxic.
The EBF Governor stated that in a democracy, actions of institutions of government and persons must be guided by the provisions of laws and not the whims and caprices of any institution or person.
He advised that due process and diligence must be our guiding principle and citizens must be vigilant in these trying times.
