A Virtual Quarterly General Meeting of the Eastern Bar Forum was held on Saturday, 18th July, 2020. The virtual meeting is the first of its kind by the Forum to be held on a Cloud-Based Video Communication Application, Zoom.

The meeting witnessed a huge attendance by members of the Forum and observers.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the amendment of the Constitution of the Eastern Bar Forum 2015. The amendment covered provisions on zoning of offices in the Forum and the domestication of the zoning provisions in the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association on National offices. With the amendment, zoned offices as contained in the NBA Constitution 2015 as amended will now rotate between the two blocs in the Eastern Zone which are Southeast and South-south. The Southeast states consist of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Enugu while the south south states consist of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Rivers.

The amendment also includes the creation of more portfolios for offices of the forum which translates to the fact that from the next administration, all the nine members of the Governing Council representing the nine states that constitutes the Forum will be portfolio holders.

The Forum at the said meeting gave opportunity to the three candidates for the office of President, Nigerian Bar Association, Dele Adesina SAN, Babatunde Ajibade SAN and Olumide Akpata Esq. to send goodwill messages to the Forum and canvass for much needed votes.

The next meeting of the Forum is billed to hold in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State.
