Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe SAN, FCIArb(UK), former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, has extended warm felicitations to the NBA Ondo Branch on the occasion of its 2025 Annual Law Week.

In his goodwill message, Akangbe praised the branch’s Executive Committee, Law Week Planning Committee, and members for organizing the event centered on the theme: “Dying Embers of Professional Ethics: Blunted Sword of the Gatekeepers.”

He described the theme as both sobering and thought-provoking, emphasizing the critical need to rekindle fading professional ethics within the legal profession.

“Our profession demands fidelity to truth, courage in advocacy, and an unyielding commitment to justice,” Akangbe said. “The decline of professional ethics must never be accepted as the norm. It must be addressed through honest introspection, collective responsibility, and purposeful reform.”

He commended the NBA Ondo Branch for its intellectual courage and urged all participants to engage with open minds and renewed hearts.

Concluding his message, Akangbe wished the Law Week to be a catalyst for reawakening professional ethics.

“God bless the Nigerian Bar Association. God bless NBA Ondo Branch,” he added.
