On February 12, 2025, Dr Peter Ntephe, a lawyer, announced on his Facebook wall that he and a childhood friend, both PhD holders, have embarked on a 7-day expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak.

The climb, tagged #docsonthemountain, aims to raise awareness and funds for The Global Initiative for Peace, Love, and Care (GIPLC), an African charity dedicated to covering hospital bills for children from poor families suffering from severe medical conditions.

In his post, Dr. Ntephe shared details about the expedition, which includes five days ascending to the summit and two days descending. He highlighted the mission behind the climb, urging the public to support The Global Initiative through various means:

  1. Purchase a Book: Buy The Condom and Other Stories, a humorous African literary fiction book available on Amazon or via Condombook.com. All proceeds from sales over the next 90 days will be donated to The Global Initiative.
  2. Direct Donations: Contribute directly to The Global Initiative via Access Bank (Nigeria) with account number: 0057981231.

The Global Initiative for Peace, Love, and Care (GIPLC) is a non-governmental, non-faith-based, non-profit organization headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, with branches in Nassarawa and Benue States. Founded in 2006, GIPLC focuses on sustainable and participatory community charity projects aimed at supporting vulnerable children and women in Nigeria and beyond.

Over the past decade, GIPLC has executed impactful charity projects locally and internationally, raising and utilizing over $5 million to improve lives. The organization has earned recognition from both private and public sectors in Nigeria for its transparency, integrity, and commitment to its mission of touching and transforming lives.

Dr. Ntephe’s climb is not just a personal challenge but a call to action for individuals and organizations to support a cause that provides critical healthcare to children in need. His efforts underscore the power of collective action and the importance of giving back to society.
