On the 13th of October, 2022, the Court of Appeal in Abuja Discharging Nnamdi Kanu the Leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra of treason charges preferred against him by the Federal government.

In the judgement, the Court held that his extraordinary rendition from Kenya was illegal and in contravention of the OAU protocol and thus tainted the entire charge with illegality.
The appellate court, in a unanimous decision, faulted the process through which Kanu was brought before the Federal High Court to answer to a 15-count terrorism charges.
