Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, who holds the traditional title “Ike Obosi” and is known for his deep respect for culture and tradition, has encouraged young people and couples to have more children. Chidoka emphasized that having siblings enhances life’s experiences and makes navigating challenges easier.

Chidoka shared this perspective in a Facebook post, accompanied by a photo with his brother. In the post, he lamented the growing trend of having fewer children, which he attributed to increasing selfishness among middle-class families.

He wrote:
“Nwanne na nwanne… brothers’ time.

“Young people should have more children. Siblings make life’s challenges easier to manage. I speak as a witness.

“The middle class is increasingly becoming more selfish, reducing fertility to unsustainable levels and hiding under costs.

“We need more trained manpower and should not allow the growing skewing of untrained manpower.”

Chidoka also highlighted the importance of larger families in contributing to society, arguing that more children equate to more trained manpower, which can benefit communities and the economy.

Osita Chidoka served as Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation from July 2014 to April 2015. His call for larger families has sparked discussions about cultural values, economic pressures, and the evolving dynamics of family life in contemporary society.
