Rotimi Stephen, lawyer to controversial disc jockey and TikTok personality, Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has alleged that his client has been arrested and is currently in custody over a viral video in which he made threatening remarks about Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

Stephen made the allegation in a video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, claiming that DJ Chicken was apprehended in Ikeja, Lagos State, and taken to the police headquarters.

According to the lawyer, although the comedian was allegedly taken to the Ikeja Police Headquarters, he suspected that officials of the Department of State Services, DSS, may also be involved in the matter.

“So, DJ Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at Ikeja and he is now at Ikeja Police headquarters, but I am very sure it is the DSS. He was arrested in connection with the statement he made some days ago about the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu,” Stephen said.

The lawyer appealed to DJ Chicken’s fans, well-wishers and persons close to the Presidency to intervene and plead for his release.

Stephen said the controversial entertainer should be forgiven, describing him as someone he had personally mentored and supported over the years.

“Please, fans and well-wishers, please. People that like Chicken and people that are close with the Presidency, please forgive Chicken. He is not that okay. We are just managing him. Chicken is my own personal project. It is my own part of giving back to society,” he pleaded.

He added that he picked interest in DJ Chicken as a criminal lawyer and had been trying to guide him.

“I just picked interest in him as a criminal lawyer. We are just managing him and he knows. He is still part of society. We are begging, please. Government should please forgive him. We will do everything,” Stephen said.

Expressing frustration over the development, the lawyer said he was unsure of what next to do.

“I don’t know what to do again. They should please,” he added.

DJ Chicken, who is known for his controversial social media content, recently posted a video in which he made remarks about President Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu.

In the video, the TikTok personality, speaking in Yoruba, allegedly said President Tinubu would not win the election and threatened Seyi Tinubu if he did.

The clip attracted widespread attention and criticism online.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services had issued an official statement confirming the alleged arrest or the reason for DJ Chicken’s reported detention.
