The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has acknowledged ongoing quality of service challenges being experienced by telecommunications subscribers in parts of Abuja, attributing the disruptions to issues surrounding diesel supply to key network infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Head of Public Affairs at the NCC, Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, the Commission said the service interruptions stem largely from a disruption in diesel delivery to IHS Nigeria Limited, a colocation provider responsible for powering a significant number of Airtel and MTN base stations in the affected areas.

According to the NCC, the disruption is linked to ongoing activities by the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA), which have impacted diesel distribution to critical telecommunications sites.

The Commission expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to subscribers and assured the public that it is working closely with relevant government agencies and affected telecommunications operators to restore normal service levels as quickly as possible.

“The Commission is taking proactive steps to facilitate dialogue between impacted service providers and other stakeholders to promptly resolve the diesel supply concerns that have negatively affected service quality,” the statement said.

The NCC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high-quality telecommunications services nationwide and pledged to keep the public informed as efforts continue to restore full services in Abuja. Subscribers were also thanked for their patience and understanding during the period of disruption.

“We thank telecommunications subscribers for their understanding and patience during this period and reaffirm our commitment to enabling high-quality telecommunication services nationwide.”
