The Honourable Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Tessy Diai has announced the itinerary for his third visit to custodial centres in the state for the year 2024.

The visits are scheduled to take place in November and will cover six custodial centres and one remand home.
The itinerary, as outlined in a circular from the Department of Court Administration and Litigation at the High Court of Justice in Asaba, is as follows:
1. Warri Custodial Centre – Monday, 4th-Tuesday 5th November, 2024
2. Sapele Custodial Centre – Wednesday, 6th November 2024
3. Remand Home Sapele – Wednesday, 6th November, 2024
4. Kwale Custodial Centre – Monday, 11th November, 2024
5. Agbor Custodial Centre – Tuesday, 12th November, 2024
6. Ogwashi-Uku Custodial Centre – Monday, 18th November – Tuesday 19th November, 2024
Each exercise is scheduled to begin promptly at 10 a.m.
The Nigerian Correctional Service has been directed to submit a list of persons awaiting trial in the state’s custodial centres to the Office of the Chief Registrar, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Commissioner of Police by Thursday, 17th October, 2024.
Registrars in charge of stations and their subordinates in the Open Court are required to ensure that all relevant records, including charge sheets, case files, and record books, are updated and ready for presentation during the Chief Judge’s visits.
The Director of Public Prosecutions is tasked with ensuring that all cases ready for filing or where legal opinions have been rendered are authenticated and duly tendered during the visits. The Commissioner of Police and desk officers, including prosecutors in the Magistrates, Area, and District Customary Courts, are to provide records of case files placed before Learned Magistrates and Chairmen of Area and District Customary Courts during the exercise.
