Yusuf A. Babasoro, DCR II, on behalf of the Chief Registrar, has announced an extension to the deadline for Notaries Public to update their details for the creation of an electronic register.
Originally set for an earlier date, the new deadline is now January 13th, 2025.
This extension comes in response to feedback from Notaries Public regarding difficulties with the legal email address requirement. To accommodate these concerns and ensure all Notaries Public have sufficient time to comply, the deadline has been pushed back.
Updating details is a straightforward process that can be completed online:
1. Notaries Public should visit www.notary.gov.ng
2. Enter their legal email address, which must end in @nigerianbar.ng
3. An OTP (one-time password) will be sent to the provided legal email
4. Using the OTP, Notaries Public can then securely access the portal to fill out and submit the remaining details on the form
For any Notaries Public experiencing technical issues or needing assistance with registering or accessing their legal email, support is available by emailing support@notary.gov.ng.
The notice, signed by Yusuf A. Babasoro, DCR II on behalf of the Chief Registrar, thanked Notaries Public for their prompt attention to this important administrative matter. The creation of a comprehensive electronic register is a key step in modernizing and streamlining record-keeping systems.
