Day 3: Justice Kutigi, Others At The Moot Trial In Honour Of J-K Gadzama, SAN’s Weeklong 60th Birthday

Three Universities put on a show at the Moot Trial in honour of Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN’s weeklong 60th birthday celebration on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. The participating Universities were Nile University, Baze University and Nassarawa State University.

The Chief Judge of FCT High Court, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf was ably represented by Hon. Justice Kutigi who conducted proceedings as the presiding judge.

The students who participated were;

Prosecution’s Counsel (Students from Nile University):

1. Obed Soludo;
2. Oluwabusayo Ifonlaja; and
3. Olatunji Christiana.

1st Defendant’s Counsel (Students from Baze University):

1. Chetachi Mayor;
2. Harrison Adango; and
3. Dickson Omere.

2nd and 3rd Defendants’ Counsel (Students from Nasarawa State University):

1. Danlami Danji;
2. Deborah Kefas; and
3. Fizzah Usman.

Prosecution’s Witnesses:

1. Addori Abundance;
2. Anas Abubakar;
3. Fatima Ibrahim;
4. Nimyel Jessica; and
5. Hidaya Jibril.

Defendants’ Witnesses:

1. Jonathan Daniel;
2. John Egwa; and
3. Abraham Ngbale.

The trial took place at the Moot Court of J-K Gadzama LLP named after Late Hon. Justice Niki Tobi, JSC (Rtd.), and lasted for almost 5 hours from 11:00 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.

The presiding judge in his judgment decided that all parties performed excellently. He further stated that the essence of the Moot Trial was for participants to learn rather than win and declared no victor, no vanquished.

The celebrant also made some remarks, and whilst appreciating all those in attendance, commented that the purpose of the moot was educating and mentoring the future members of the profession.
