The Immediate past Assistant Secretary of the NBA, Calabar Branch, Daniel Kip, Esq. has hailed the Legal Advocacy Response to Drugs Initiative (LARDI) on her continuing legal education training and Annual General Meeting which commenced on 7th February, 2022, in Abuja.

In a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Kip praised the initiative which is targeted at legal and institutional reforms to tackle societal vices such as drug abuse etc, and also training legal practitioners to stay abreast with contemporary evolvements in the society and practice.

The statement reads;

“….The programme which witnessed the convergence of hundreds of Lawyers/Members from every State in Nigeria, had Legal Jurist and Eminent Legal Practitioners do justice to different topics during the training.

The Legal Advocacy Response to Drugs Initiative (LARDI) is a network of pro bono lawyers spread across Nigeria, who are providing pro-bono legal services to drug arrestees/detainees.

The advocacy arm of LARDI focuses on a reform of the legal and institutional framework for the appropriate treatment of drug arrestees. It also canvasses respect for the right of drug users to proper treatment and rehabilitation consistent with global best practice while discouraging drug abuse.

Daniel Kip thus congratulates the National Co-ordinator, vibrant executives, and State & Regional Co-ordinators of the Body for steering the affairs of LARDI excellently since her inauguration on 6th September, 2018.

Daniel Kip further wishes members of LARDI and all participants fruitful deliberations at the AGM and a great time in Abuja.”
