The unions had threatened to on Wednesday disrupt operations at MMA2 to protest the alleged unjust disengagement of their members by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, which is the operator of MMA2. In order to stop the unions from making good their threat, Bi-Courtney’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Wale Babalakin (SAN), on Tuesday approached Justice Ibrahim Buba with an ex parte application, urging the court to restrain the protesting unionists. Joined as respondents in the ex parte application were the Attorney General of the Federation; Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria; the National Union of Air Transport Employees; Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria; the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers; and the Nigeria Police Force. After entertaining arguments from Babalakin on Tuesday, Justice Buba made an interim order, “restraining the defendants, either by themselves, or through their officers, officials, subordinates, staff, agents, servants, privies, assigns or any person claiming through or deriving authority from them or in any manner, howsoever, from commencing or continuing any plan, action or activity directed at or having the effect of interfering with, stopping, preventing, impeding, obstructing, hindering in any manner, howsoever, or by any means whatsoever, with the business activities of the applicant and its lessees at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Domestic Terminal 2, operated by the applicant, pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction filed in this suit.” The judge adjourned till October 23 to take the motion on notice.]]>
