The Kaduna State High Court has granted an interim order restraining Governor Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State from Arresting Gloria Mabelam Ballaso.

The Certified True Copy of the said Court Order is dated 15th day of January, 2020 and made available to TheNigerialawyer (TNL)

Gloria had filed a Motion Exparte against the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police and Governor of Kaduna State pursuant to sections 34, 36, 37, 39, 41 and 42 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and Order IV Rule 4 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement (Procedure) Rules, 2009 seeking for

“AN INTERIM ORDER of this Honourable Court requiring the Respondents to maintain status quo, by themselves, their agent, privies or assigns from taking further steps in connection with the matter or interfering with the freedom of the Applicant pending the determination of the Applicant on notice (sic)”

Gloria further sought an Order of accelerated hearing of the substantive application and an omnibus prayer.

Upon reading the 7 paragraphs Affidavit of urgency and after hearing MD. Jatau, Esq, counsel for the Applicant, the court granted all the reliefs in the Motion Exparte. The court held:

“I have seen the documents filed and I am satisfied that this application ought to be granted as it had merit. It is granted as prayed. The substantive matter had been fixed for 5/3/2020 for hearing.”
