A Delta State High Court has remanded content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre over the alleged rape and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.

The court granted the remand application on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the conclusion of police investigations into the case.
Counsel to the deceased’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the results of the autopsy and toxicology examinations had been released to the police investigation team.
“Today, September 4, 2026, the application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as Odogwu Asaba, was heard and granted by the court,” she said.
“He has now been remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre, from where he will be brought to court until the completion of his trial, which now lies with the Ministry of Justice through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.”
Ideal said the medical reports and other evidence gathered during the investigation had been incorporated into the case file prepared for prosecution.
She added that she was representing Agbro’s family on a pro bono basis and would continue providing the necessary legal and financial assistance to ensure that the case was properly pursued.
“I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” she said.
She also promised to keep the public informed as the proceedings continued, stressing that “justice is everyone’s business.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, also confirmed the remand, saying Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional centre following the court’s decision.
Ogbonna was arrested after allegations that he raped Agbro, who later died after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance.
Agbro was said to have travelled to Asaba after allegedly being invited by Ogbonna to participate in a content-creation training programme advertised on social media.
She was allegedly taken to a hotel, where the incident was said to have occurred. After returning home, she reportedly informed her parents and recorded a video recounting her alleged experience.
Following a petition by her family, the Delta State Commissioner of Police directed the Effurun Area Command to investigate the allegations, leading to Ogbonna’s arrest.
The matter is now expected to proceed to prosecution under the Delta State Ministry of Justice.
Ogbonna remains presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty by a competent court.
