The Court of Appeal, Abuja, has affirmed the suspension of prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officials, including former National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, Deputy Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, and National Organizing Secretary Umaru Bature, according to Dailypost

Delivered on Monday, the appellate court’s judgment confirms the disciplinary measures taken by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and also upholds the October 31, 2025 Federal High Court ruling delivered by Justice James Omotosho, which had restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 National Convention.

The suspensions, originally imposed on November 1, 2025, followed allegations that the officials engaged in anti-party activities and acted in ways “inconsistent with the provisions of the PDP Constitution.”

In its ruling, the Court of Appeal validated the internal disciplinary processes initiated by the PDP, emphasising the supremacy of the party constitution in managing its administrative affairs.

The judgment effectively dismissed all legal challenges seeking to nullify the suspensions or reinstate the officials, reinforcing the authority of the NWC to enforce party discipline.

The appellate court’s decision underscores the judiciary’s recognition of internal party governance and confirms that adherence to the PDP Constitution is paramount in ensuring accountability and cohesion within the party.
