A customary court inspector, Odera Onumajulu, who sustained gunshot injuries during a kidnap attack, is dead.
The Owerri branch of the Nigeria Bar Association confirmed the death of the lawyer on Thursday.
Onumajulu, who was kidnapped and shot on May 22 in Owerri, reportedly died on Wednesday after medical personnel battled for one month to save her life.
The gunmen who kidnapped her in front of her house shot her before letting her go.
The Secretary of the NBA, Owerri branch, Chinedu Agu, said the branch was saddened by the death of the female lawyer.
He said, “Before the ugly incident, Onumajulu was a customary court inspector attached to the Customary Court of Appeal and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016.
“It is very sad how another colleague has become a victim in the ravaging insecurity in Imo.”
