A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) the authority to declare Emeka Christian Elobi a wanted person concerning alleged criminal conspiracy, fraud, and obtaining money under false pretences.
The decision, handed down by Justice Ibrahim Ahmad Kala, followed an ex parte motion filed by the PSFU.
The motion, marked FHC/L/MISC/496/2025, was presented to the court by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) M. Y. Bello, a legal officer with the PSFU in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The motion asked the court to allow the police to formally declare Elobi wanted and place him on the PSFUâs wanted list for prosecution.
The PSFU equally prayed to the court to permit the publication of his name and details in national newspapers and on social media.
In his submission, CSP Bello sought to fulfil the legal requirements for a public declaration, stating the need for the suspect to be arrested.
The police also requested permission to publish Elobiâs photograph and other particulars through official channels and social media to aid in his capture.
After reviewing the affidavit from Deputy Superintendent of Police, Columbus Aniozor, Justice Kala approved the policeâs request.
The court order explicitly declares Elobi a wanted person by the PSFU concerning the alleged offences.
It also mandates the police to publish his name, photograph, and other details on their official platforms and social media handles.
With this ruling, the PSFU now has the legal backing to intensify its search for Elobi.
