On May 4, 2019, tragedy struck at Aduragbemi Street, Alagbado area of Lagos State as a four-year-old boy was crushed to death by a car in his parents’ compound.

Mr. Adenowo Adeyiga said to be the driver of the Toyota Camry car, with the number plate, KTU 242 FC, was said to be returning home from Ijegun – on the outskirts of Lagos – when his car had a brake failure and lost control.

The deceased identified as Segun Egunbambi who was playing at the scene of the incident sustained leg injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in the neighborhood for treatment. He died from the injuries some hours later.

The suspect who was arraigned before an Ikeja magistrates’ court on three counts bordering on reckless driving and manslaughter after his car crushed the four-year-old boy in his parents’ compound, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him by the court registrar.

While the case was adjourned till June 20, 2019, he was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in the like sum.
