A high court sitting in Maitama, Abuja had finally approved the divorce of Anita Isama from Paul Okoye, the music star.

The pair have been in the news since last year over rumoured crisis rocking their eight-year-old marriage.

Anita and Okoye met in 2004 at the University of Abuja. In 2013, their son Andre was born in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.

The couple later had a set of twins who were also delivered in Atlanta.

In August 2021, a document believed to be a divorce petition filed by Anita against the singer surfaced online.

At the time, the document had cited “irreconcilable difference” as her reason for pushing for a divorce.

In July this year, another court document surfaced online claiming the mother of three filed for divorce from the singer over alleged infidelity.

In her latest petition signed by Ojonimi Akpe and Okutepa J.S, her lawyers, Anita cited “cheating, separation, being an absent father, fraud, and difficult experiences” as reasons for seeking a divorce.

Anita also reportedly demanded a monthly settlement of $20,000 and a number of the singer’s mansions in the petition.

Anita was said to have accused Paul, better known as Rudeboy, of cheating her in a deal despite contributing N10 million naira for the joint project.

“That I know as a fact that the petitioner founded a company called TannkCo in 2019,” the petition reads.

“That the petitioner and the respondent agreed to build a mall where TannkCo would have its main offices, and the petitioner contributed N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) for the purchase of the land and the building of the mall.

“That I know as a fact that the respondent, upon completion of the mall, reneged on the agreement and failed to give TannkCo a space in the mall.”

It is understood that Anita later dropped the allegations against the singer.

The court was said to have granted the estranged lovers joint custody of their children in a ruling delivered on October 20, 2022.
