The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, on Tuesday, adjourned the trial of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), to October 21, 2025, to allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) time to list a witness to testify in the case.

Dasuki is facing an amended 32-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, dishonest release, and receipt of various sums amounting to ₦33.2 billion. The former NSA is being prosecuted alongside a former General Manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Aminu Baba-Kusa, as well as two firms — Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.

According to the EFCC, Dasuki allegedly misappropriated security funds belonging to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). The anti-graft agency accused him of releasing the equivalent of ₦10 billion in foreign currencies from the NSA’s CBN account to fund the 2014 presidential primary election of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The defendants were re-arraigned on March 25, 2025, and all pleaded not guilty to the charges marked FCT/HC/CR/43/2015.

At the resumed hearing, prosecution witness Adariku Michael, a detective with the EFCC, informed the court that the commission had received an intelligence report on September 21, 2015, prompting further investigation into the alleged diversion of funds.

Following this disclosure, the trial judge adjourned the case to October 21 to enable the EFCC to properly list and present its next witness for testimony.
