*Regrets Error in Report on Contempt Proceedings Against NESREA DG and Others

In a previous publication, it was erroneously reported that a court had ordered the arrest of the Director General/CEO of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Chief Henry Dele Alake, and other officials, including the Honourable Minister of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Obadiah Simon Nkom, the Director General of the Mining Cadastre Office, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the Honourable Minister of Environment, and Nwokeji Victor and Nwokeji Nneamaka, both directors of Zothmann Mining Limited, for allegedly disobeying a court judgment.

However, it has come to our attention that the suit in question, filed by Igweajah Pius Ogbonnia with the reference number FHC/ABJ/CS/320/2021, is a contempt proceeding seeking to commit the mentioned officials to prison for their alleged refusal to obey a judgment delivered by the court on March 11, 2024. The suit is yet to be heard by the court, and no order for arrest has been issued.

TheNigeriaLawyer.com deeply regrets the error in the earlier publication and apologizes for any inconvenience or embarrassment caused to the officials named therein. We take full responsibility for the mistake and are committed to upholding the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism in our reporting.

Rest assured that we will continue to monitor the progress of the case and provide accurate updates as they become available.
