The coalition of anti-corruption groups, yesterday, called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to investigate the viral audio where some politicians in a South-south state were allegedly discussing how a tribunal judgement was secured in favour of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State.

At a media briefing in Abuja, the leader of the group, John Onochie, said the EFCC as an agency constitutionally mandated to contain vote buying and election rigging should study the viral audio where the suspected PDP chieftains were heard discussing how they procured victory at the tribunal.
He said the chieftains also alleged that they had some higher courts in their palms to do their will.
The group urged the anti-graft agency to “invite all those involved in the conversation to questioning to ascertain the level of involvement and all those involved in the alleged corrupt practices.”
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had affirmed the election of Sheriff Oborevwori, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Delta State governorship poll which was held on March 18.
The judgement was delivered nearly two months after the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld Oborevwori’s election.
The three-member tribunal headed by Justice C.H. Ahuchaogu dismissed the petition filed by former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The tribunal held that the petition contained unsubstantiated allegations, noting that it was devoid of merit and speculative.
