The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has been allegedly embarrassed by his creditors in Abuja.

Videos flying over the internet showed some people blocking Ukachukwu’s way as he attempted to leave Transcorp Hilton Hotel with his wife and young son.

The men were seen in the video stopping him from entering his vehicle, claiming he owed them N1 billion.

Supporters of the Anambra State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the election, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who have been sharing the videos, allege that the money was borrowed for the purchase of governorship forms and to prosecute the election.

Dr. Ejimofor Opara, the APGA National Publicity Secretary, who also posted the video, said that it is unfortunate that people who have not been able to clear their personal debt are coming to contest the governorship seat of Anambra State.

He said: “He wants to contest so that he will use public money to clear his personal debt. Anambra people will not have that happen.”

Meanwhile, a supporter of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, Dr. Justin Nwankwo, has debunked the circulating videos as mere staged drama.

Nwankwo, in his reply to the allegation, said: “When you see a staged video, you will know. The recent circulating video claiming that Ikukuoma was attacked by people he allegedly owed N1 billion is nothing but a poorly scripted political drama, staged and sponsored to discredit a rising force ahead of the Anambra governorship election.

“First, let us ask the obvious: why are these supposed ‘creditors’ shouting about Anambra election instead of quietly collecting their so-called debt? Is the highway the new courtroom? Is the street the new bank? If truly someone is being owed N1 billion, is it on the road that they intend to recover it? Any serious creditor knows that such a debt comes with legal documents, contracts, collateral, and most importantly, lawyers. But here, there is none.

“Second, how can a supposed N1 billion debt exist without a single document, collateral, court case, or petition? Who in their right senses transacts such a monumental sum with no trace? The logic collapses under its own weight. Even more laughable is the fact that these ‘debt collectors’ came armed with cameramen instead of security operatives or legal enforcement officers.

“Since when did camera crews replace court orders or policemen in matters of debt recovery? The video is nothing but a choreographed act designed for social media consumption, not reality.

“Third, where is the official letter of demand for this alleged debt? In real life, no creditor wakes up to chase N1 billion on the street with placards and cameras. They go to court, file a petition, and enforce it with the law. The absence of all this only confirms that the video is political propaganda dressed up as a debt recovery mission.”

Nwankwo said the timing is also suspicious. He noted that as the election draws closer, Ndi Anambra should expect more of these fake shows, cheap blackmail videos, orchestrated harassment, and propaganda staged by desperate politicians. This, he said, is always the last resort of failed incumbents who have nothing to show their people.

He added: “Let it be clear: the people are wiser than these cheap antics. No amount of staged harassment can stop the wind of change blowing across Anambra. Fake N1 billion debts will not decide the election. Real issues will – security, healthcare, education, infrastructure, jobs, and genuine leadership.”
