The Lagos State Judiciary has officially commenced the use of electronically generated affidavits, effective June 1, 2025. The new e-Affidavit system—powered by the Lagos Case Management and Information System (LagosCOMIS)—marks a major leap in legal innovation and efficiency.

According to a circular from the Office of the Honourable Chief Judge, all general affidavits, including those for Change of Name, Loss of SIM, Declaration of Age, and other non-litigation purposes, must now be obtained exclusively via the LagosCOMIS platform:

Affidavits used in litigation at the High Courts are currently excluded from the directive.

What the New E-Affidavit System Offers:

The e-Affidavit module is part of a broader LagosCOMIS suite of features that includes:

  • Electronic Suit Number Assignment
  • Case Assignment and Management
  • Applications & Probate Management
  • Lis Pendens Monitoring
  • Virtual Hearings via Zoom
  • eNotifications and Court Services
  • Capacity Development & Certifications

How to Use the E-Affidavit Platform in 6 Steps:

  1. Visit https://lagoscomis.lagosjudiciary.gov.ng/account.html
  2. Click on “Create new account” and register as a legal practitioner or private citizen
  3. Sign in with your email and password
  4. Click on “Depose to an affidavit”
  5. Select affidavit type, court, and division; complete form
  6. Make payment online, upload your signature, and take the oath via video call with a Commissioner for Oaths (Zoom)

Once complete, the affidavit is digitally stored in the user’s account and ready for printing.

The judiciary said this initiative is part of its broader justice reform strategy to streamline processes, reduce fraud, and improve access to legal services in Lagos State.
