The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Eti-Osa Branch, known as “The Coastline Bar,” has extended prestigious invitations to renowned human rights advocate and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun Adegboruwa, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to justice, public interest litigation, and civil liberties in Nigeria.

In a series of announcements this month, the branch invited Adegboruwa to serve as Guest Lecturer for its Inaugural Human Rights Day Memorial Lecture and also selected him as a recipient of a Recognition Award at the 2025 Annual Law Dinner. Both events, scheduled days apart in December, celebrate the legal profession’s traditions, cultural heritage, and enduring commitment to human rights.

The first event, the Inaugural Human Rights Day Memorial Lecture, will hold on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Barr. Adewale Sanni Hall, Eti-Osa Local Government Secretariat, Igbo-Efon, Eti-Osa, Lagos. The lecture honors the late MMA Sanni, the branch’s pioneer chairman, whose career reflected uncommon dedication to justice, human rights, public interest advocacy, and service to humanity.

Adegboruwa, respected for his work in human rights protection, consumer rights, and civil liberties, will deliver the keynote lecture titled: “The Legal Practitioner, Consumer Advocate, Human Rights Activist and Public Interest Litigator: The Case of MMA Sanni.”

In the November 21 invitation letter, NBA Eti-Osa Chairman Olanrewaju B. Obadina and Secretary Gabriel I. Peter stated that the theme aligns with the branch’s mission. They wrote that it preserves the ideals championed by the late MMA Sanni and encourages a new generation of lawyers to embrace principled advocacy and public service. They added that Adegboruwa’s contributions make him an exemplary choice to lead the intellectual discourse.

Three days earlier, the 2025 Annual Law Dinner will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Naval Dockyard, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos. Themed “The Bar in Tradition’s Embrace,” the dinner celebrates the legal profession’s ideals alongside Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage. Attendees are encouraged to appear in traditional attire that reflects their ethnic origins, highlighting the beauty of diversity and the unity that supports the rule of law.

As part of the evening’s highlights, the branch will present Adegboruwa with a Recognition Award in acknowledgment of his distinguished professional standing and invaluable contributions to justice in Nigeria. The November 15 invitation, signed by Chairman Obadina and Dinner Committee Chairman Oyebanji Alabi, also extended an invitation to support the event through sponsorship, noting that his participation would enrich the occasion and strengthen the bond between the Bar and its leading members.
